another photo travelogue by G

Red Rock Canyon is probably my favorite place to visit in California as a nature lover. The canyon is an amazing view of unique and colorful layers of white, pink, red and brown cliffs in Kern County. This is 16 miles south west of Ridgecrest near highway 14.

The state park has been the location of many movies, videos and commercials, including Jurassic Park. Not only for movie setting but it is also considered the classroom for the study of geology, photography and paleontology.

I come here to relax more often than anyplace else since it is an ideal place for camping, exploration and desolation.

WECOME!!!!

Mother Nature is a good sculptor ( sculptress?)

Is there anyway going to the top aside from rock climbing?

If you stare hard enough at that rock on the left, you will swear you will seeyour mother-in-law's countenance JUST KIDDING!

The photos speak of  earth history, erosion and time segments that consist of million years in between. That's  freaking long !!!

Hey check the bottom rocks..They are forming a CONGA line!

At least there are no tourists  here....

I spy..with my little eye..a stone mushroom!

Looks like a hotel facade with no windows and a grassy roof!

I can stay in a place like this..maybe an hour or two?..:) Then you can have it..JUST JOKING!

Aha, this is postcard beauty shot. The best is always reserved for the last..

Hey Lakay G,

I just love those shots.  Thanks for sharing. I love the atmosphere of being there...having just peace and quiet away from the bustling city. Spending time for reflections and time to be with nature. Lucky you to be so close to nature....Enjoy to the fullest.
