the frozen beauty of the falls

During summertime, the Falls wear a mantle of green dotted with warm reds and yellows and pinks and all colours of the rainbow. Mist drifts from the Horseshoe falls into the park and the ice cream kiosks.

Wintertime scenery is an eeire covering of white like being in the midst of an ice age. Fine snow blows from the raging falls which is bordered by icy ridges. The ice cream kiosks are closed. The trees wear crystal draperies. Only a few tourists are scurrying here and there trying to beat the bone chilling winds that  shakes anything in its path. Nothing discouraged Rain, me and Mommy from braving the chilly, snowy weather that gives the falls a unique beauty of a winter wonderland.

Rain posing bravely beside the iron fence that prevents people from falling over.

The opposite view showing the Rainbow bridge that crosses over to Niagara, US side. Passports are required.

"I want to straddle on the fence for a better view," said Rain. "Sure, wanna spend the night in jail?" I answered.

Then we went down to an underground tunnel that stops right under the falls, right where the water hits the river bed in sprays and splashes.  Three windows offer view towards three directions.  The window edges are decorated with icicles, like crystal stalagmites. Nothing but roaring waters and merciless winds nipping your nose and ears.

"Two purple shadows in the snow": goes a song by Jerry Vale.

A view from one of the three windows..

The white stuff around the window is solid, only the water in the background is liquid .----###
