at the Pillitteri Winery

Some comments first before we go to the main story..

From CP:

It was my Dad's 92nd birthday celebration yesterday. The Ilocano songs you e-mailed me filled the party atmosphere when so much nostalgia and flashed back treasured memories back home.Thank you so much for those Ilocano songs. We sang them so much gusto again , thank you. Rain looks gorgeous. She must be the same person who frequently post in the discussion board .

The e-mail says it all..

"Hi Susan, I am glad you are having fun in the snowy and cold Toronto. Kaya lang, ba`t ang tipid naman yang ngiti mo?  Tita Miguelita got those beautiful smiles..bigay na bigay.  Manong Vic, asan ka naman diyan? Please share your pics with Rain too.

Siya sige, can`t wait to see the other pics. "

Just before reaching  Niagara Falls, we turned from the main highway (QEW) into St. Catherine's, the wine capital of Ontario. We proceeded to the Pillittery winery to do a bit of wine tasting. It is free and you also get a chance to buy ice wine ( not found in California ) at a much cheaper price than in the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) outlets. The interior of the wine store was too tempting to pass by for photos, so here we go!

At the store entrance.

Shillouete, store sign and those menacing icicles.  Our driver broke one of them to slake his thirst after driving for several hours.

Years ago, the place is just a vineyard where grapes are harvested then made into wine. Now it is bustling,  progressive store lined with all sorts of Ontario wine. The cart behind must be one of the earliest transport used by the pioneering Italian farmers...

A wine lover's paradise. Now which tastes better? Ontario or California wine? NOOO, do not discuss this topic in the DC! I am out of it!

With a wine glass, she poses under a couple of Impressionist style paintings. Camera exposure is really off on this one..Should have knocked off the auto exposure option..

Time to leave, snowflakes, round like snowballs, start falling..There should be a sign that would say WATCH OUT FOR FALLING ICICLES...on with our journey!!

next: Lunch and browsing for souvenier items...
