at the backyard...

Our backyard is 150' long and 50' wide..New houses in Metro Toronto do not have these kinds of lots anymore because real estate prices skyrocketed during the past few years..There is a garden centerpiece with various flowering plants and statues of a boy and 2 girls reading some books..

A deck with a view..It is as wide as the house itself. During summer nights, it is so relaxing to just sit in here, listen to the birds or the crickets..Some solar lights in the center garden  light up when it is already dark enough...

This crab apple tree is starting to sprout bright red flowers. Its full glory will be  on Victoria Day or the third Sunday of May. It is a Canadian holiday. It coincides with the Memorial Day of the US..

THis shot was taken from the center garden with the statue. It shows the deck, railings and all..The hammock is my favorite spot but some times these brown birds would go to the branches on top of me and would make their dump..Who said it is good luck if a bird would shit on your face?

There is BOBO THE CLOWN, relaxing under a sign, and thinking of the lazy, hazy days of summer just ahead of us!!!Yes, days of frosted beer, pretzels and pizza..awright!!!

Thanks for your comment about my article on MAAP. Those Filipino crew members you have met on board QM2, especially the Chief Engineer, were not from MAAP, I’m sure of that. MAAP is a young school having opened in 1999 and graduated its first batch only in 2003.

 

As a faculty there since it opened and later as academic assessor until I retired last year, we used to keep track of MAAP’s graduatesand I knew of nobody who has embarked on board the QM2. The highest rank a member of Batch 2003 (1st batch) has been promoted to was 2nd Officer on board a European-flag cargo ship.
