Manong Vic,
I ‘ve been an avid reader and fan of your Asingan journals and diligently reading your postings. I can relate to your experiences and mischiefs when you were growing up. Sometimes I laughed at them because of the similarity of our shenanigans. When I was about 6 years, my brother use to visit your old cinema at the back of your house. In fact, on one occasion, I slept on top of one of the benches and fell on the concrete floor, literally giving me big ’bukol’ on my head. Oh!..yeah..I love Asingan. Let me introduce myself. My name is Fred Rodillas. I am from Barrio Domanpot and grew up there until age 18 when I have to pack my bag and came to the US to join the mighty United States Navy. I am related to the Guerreros, Acostas, and Samsons of Domanpot. My mom’s maiden name is Guerrero so the sons and daughters of her brothers and sisters are my first first cousins. You don’t know me but I know your sister, Ester. She was my classmate and co-graduate at Rizal Academy-Class 1963. Pleasekeep posting. You’ll hear more from me
Note: Re: Your latest posting of the Sampaga Sound System. The other sound system may that be of the Santoses near Cabinculan.
HAPPY NEW YEAR**************
Regards,
Fred Rodillas

**************Hi Fred,
That was a wonderful e-mail! So good I decided to reprint it in the Journal! I am sorry to hear re: the incident in the Asingan Theatre..Hope you won't sue us..ha-ha!That place is a dump I know but I was still very young then..My addiction for movies started there..Now I got a sizable collection of DVDs re: oldies esp. the ones I saw in the screen of the Asingan Theatre..Man I got so many memories of that place..good and bad. Something like the movie CINEMA PARADISO. Some of the owners then ocassionally did not return a few of the films they rented ( mostly the Hollywood ones ) and they got away with it..So there is a pile of films and posters and lobby photos in the projection room of that theatre. And some Asingenians would like to enter the theatre free and if they are denied entrance, they would hide somewhere near and start pelting the theatre with stones..And I admire how accurate their aim was, right on the roof of the cinema. Those people could work for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team!...
Those guys were part of our town and they make our place colorful and memorable...
Thanks again for your e-mail and have a good New Year!! I know the names u mentioned..I also know the Santoses..Dr. Honorio Santos is my friend..His dad worked in Vietnam and he had first class audio equipments..Honorio is now in New York but I saw his parents in Pangasinan one time and they are retired.Saw them in a restaurant on the way to Lingayen.During one fiesta we were both crowning guests of the Asingan beauties... Bye!!!!
Vic
